Echoing the Urban Optimism of John Marin and the
New York artists of the 1920s -  with a contemporary viewpoint - Jessica Daryl Winer’s work explores ways in which spaces are transformed for the viewer into theatrical environments.

Her painting of the Flatiron Building was acquired by the Museum of the City of New York for their permanent collection.

In 2008, Jessica installed “Dance Space”--a 9’ by 10’ painting--for permanent exhibition in the lobby of the newly opened Manhattan Movement and Arts Center, west of Lincoln Center.

In 2006, she unveiled The Sardi's Screens- an 8' by 25' freestanding mural depicting 200 legends of Broadway's “last century, in the banquet room of Broadway's famed Sardi's restaurant, where it is on permanent exhibition.

The mural was adapted from its original conception - the centerpiece of the Times Square Visitors Center in the restored Embassy Theatre on Broadway. Measuring 14' by 24', the acrylic-on-canvas  “Curtain Call” mural was dedicated by Kitty Carlisle Hart. In six years there, the  mural was viewed by an estimated six million visitors.

From 2002-04, an estimated 2 1/2 million viewers visited Jessica's public installation “Dancing on Air... in Times Square,” an 18 piece suspended work, set in motion by air currents, also in the Times Square Visitors Center.

Jessica has had several solo exhibitions in New York, including two at the Gallery at Lincoln Center, and at the National Arts Club; also in Connecticut at the Silo Gallery, and at the Westport Artists Gallery - apart from numerous group shows. Her paintings have been exhibited in the windows of Saks Fifth Avenue, and have been seen in collections around New York such as the Russian Tea Room's. Her commissions also include posters and theatrical set design. Her paintings of opera and jazz subjects have been reproduced extensively by the Metropolitan Opera, including a Met poster. She was commissioned by American Ballet Theatre to create two special edition prints. Her art has also appeared in The New Yorker, among other publications.

In tandem with “Dancing on Air...in Times Square” installation, she created “Dance Floor,” a 6' by 8' "Grauman's Chinese Theatre in motion" capturing the footsteps-in-paint of 27 leading dance-world figures, including Merce
Cunningham, Chita Rivera, Cynthia Gregory, Ann Reinking, Bebe Neuwirth, Kelly Bishop, stars of New York City Ballet and American Ballet Theatre and the Radio City Rockettes. Auctioned to benefit Career Transition For Dancers, Dance Floor is now in the Capezio collection.

Educated at Swarthmore College and the Rudolf Steiner School, Jessica continued her art studies in Rome and at the National Academy in New York where she was awarded the Nechamkin prize in drawing. Her work is held in both private and institutional collections. The Curtain Call mural was featured nationally on PBS-TV's Going Places.
